Union Minister and DMK Patron M Karunanidhi’s elder son M K Alagiri today met senior DMK leader Veerapandi Arumugam who was let out on anticipatory bail yesterday after a three-day custodial interrogation on land grabbing charges.

Veerapandi Arumugam served as Agriculture minister during DMK’s tenure. Alagiri meet Arumugam at the latter’s residence in Pulaveri in Salem district and inquired about his health during their half an hour conversation, party sources said.

Alagiri said that the cases were foisted by AIADMK and that DMK cannot be defeated by booking people under false cases.

Aramugam is listed as accused No 1 in two cases of alleged land grabbing, one in which he allegedly evicted over 23 people from a colony in the district to take over the land and the other involving a property worth over Rs 85 crore in the area.
