By refusing to take bribes, the Madurai collector has earned 18 transfers in 20 years, a modest house and bank balance and lots of respect.

Two years ago, as district collector of Namakkal, he voluntarily declared his assets: a bank balance of Rs 7,172 and a house in Madurai
worth Rs 9 lakh. Once, when his baby daughter, Yalini, who had breathing problems, was suddenly taken ill, he did not have the Rs 5,000 needed
for admitting her to a private hospital. At that time he was deputy commissioner (excise) in Coimbatore and there were 650 liquor licenses
to be given out. The going bribe for each was rumored to be Rs 10,000.

Sagayam's masters degrees in social work and law come in useful in his role as an administrator. He knows the rulebooks in detail and is not afraid of using them, however powerful the opponent. No wonder then that Sagayam's career is marked with the scars of countless battles.

When he was in Kanchipuram as revenue officer, he took on the sand mafia, ordering them to stop dredging sand from the Palar riverbed.Large-scale dredging had made the area flood-prone. The mafia sent goons to assault Sagayam, but he did not budge and would not take back the order. He also took on a mighty soft-drink mnc when a consumer showed him a bottle with dirt floating in it. He sealed the bottling unit and banned the sale of the soft drink in the city. In Chennai, he locked horns with a restaurant chain and recovered four acres valued at some Rs 200 crores.


Sagayam's wife Vimala has stood by him all these years but she was rattled by some of the threats during the elections. "He always says if you are right, nobody can hurt you," she says. "But sometimes it becomes difficult."


"I believe, as Mahatma Gandhi said, that India lives in her villages," says Sagayam, who also idolises Subhash Chandra Bose. His years as a collector-he has slept overnight in village schools many times-have convinced him to better the lot of villagers by strengthening the
village administrative officer (VAO) system. Many VAOs have never visited villages and often stay miles away from where they should be, in cities. In Namakkal, his action against errant VAOs had them ganging up with politicians to get him transferred. Over 5,000 villagers protested,saying they wouldn't let Sagayam go. The politicians had to retreat.

Sagayam says he learns honesty on his mother's knees. He is the youngest of four sons of a farmer from Pudukottai. "Our adjoining field had mango trees and my friends and I would pick the fallen fruit," he says. "But my mother made me throw the mangoes away, saying I should enjoy only what is mine." Now his daughter Yalini wants to become a collector. When she has an argument with her brother Arun, she asks her father, "Is he really your son? He just told a lie!" Both of them are proud of their father. Recently, after a long time, the Sagayam family went on a vacation to Kullu in Himachal Pradesh. While visiting a gurudwara, a stranger came up to their father and asked him, "Aren't you IAS officer Mr Sagayam?" Yalini and Arun have not stopped beaming.

Director AR Murugadoss has said that he has not drawn any inspiration for his latest outing 7aum Arivu. In the press meet today, Murugadoss has said that the Hollywood filmmakers can feel free to remake 7aum Arivu!

This shows the level of confidence that the director has in his film. Further, he has said that 7aum Arivu is not just an entertainer as a lot of research has gone into the project and that will be evident once the audiences see the film.

It was revealed that Shruti Haasan plays a young scientist Shuba Srinivasan. AR Murugadoss has said that he happy that Suriya has done the role because many Bodhidharma statues resembled the star.

No spam calls, SMSs; TRAI announces exceptions

It seems that this time Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) is very strict on its guidelines to curb all unwanted telemarketing calls and messages from today.

After the 100 SMS limit implemented by all mobile operators now Bulk and Free SMS web portal’s have also implemented the Telecom Commercial Communications Customer Preference (Sixth Amendment) Regulations, 2011 to stop the menace of telemarketing SMSes and made all the changes in their SMS system.

India’s leading Free and Bulk SMS Web portal WAY2SMS.COM today said that that it has strictly adheres to TRAI guidelines from today i.e. Sept 27th in order to protect consumer privacy from SMS spammers. Way2SMS has also cited that it will not be sending any group SMS to DND registered mobile numbers.

Changes on Way2Sms

According to the New TRAI guidelines, Starting from Sept 27th 2011 messages sent via group SMS does not deliver SMSes to DND Registered mobile numbers. However the best part in Way2SMS it displays if a user comes under DND list or not while submitting message.

Also Way2SMS is changing its group Message structure. Messages sent via group SMS will be sent as TD- 677800 (677800 is the Unique number allotted by Telecom operator to way2sms) as the sender.Users Mobile number and a 8 letter Nick name will be inserted in your message by default. No longer you can send group message with mobile number as sender. However users can continue to enjoy 140 characters message same as before.

Also According to TRAI new regulations, way2sms does not allow group messaging between 9PM to 9AM every day.

Even E-Commerce websites like Flipkart and letsbuy have also notified its users in case of letsbuy it has asked its users to send SMS “START 6” to 1909 where as in case of Flipkart it has asked users to Send “START 5″ to 1909 to activate partial-DND which will be help users to receive SMS alerts from all ‘Consumer Goods’ companies.

Ajith Kumar's golden jubilee film Mankatha has continued to rock at the UK Box Office (BO). The movie, which was released on August 31, has managed to garner Rs 1.24 crore (£11,587) at the BO despite facing a huge competition from other language films.

Sources have confirmed that Mankatha is doing good business not only in the UK Box Office but in other countries like Singapore, Malayasia, US, etc. The last week release Vandhan Vendran has collected Rs 8.65 lakhs in its first weekend at the UK Box Office.

Mankatha was at 15th place at the UK Box Office in its first weekend. The only other Indian movie featured in the list was Bollywood film Bodyguard in the first week after the release.

Ajith Kumar, Trisha Krishnan and Arjun Sarja starrer Mankatha is reportedly nearing Rs 40 crore mark at the overall Box Office collections.

Go to the main Settings page, look for the “Conversation View” section, select the option to turn it off, and save changes. If you change your mind, you can always go back.

The latest on Ajith's next is that he has given bulk dates to AM Rathnam and his Sri Surya Movies. So after wrapping up Billa 2, he will begin work on a film for this production house.
It has been said that Ajith's next after Billa 2 will be a remake of the Telugu film Dookudu. Mahesh Babu and Samantha were in this film directed by Srinu Vytla. Bouquet to debutant filmmaker Saravanan for etching out a film that speaks about feelings of people and the value of every single life. With handful of characters, the director has come out with a flick that is filled with fun, joy, tears and other human emotions.

What begins as a journey in a bus takes twists and turns, and when we think all is well that ends well, a shocking incident happens. But hold on! There is no preachy stuff as Saravanan manages to lace the message with lighter moments in the film.

Engeyum Eppothum Review

For many of us road mishaps mean just numbers - the number of people perished in such accidents. Rarely we get to see the colourful life the victims enjoyed without knowing that death is coming close to them.

'Engeyum Eppothum' attempts to take a closer look at such people. In a nutshell, it is the story of two couples who end up romancing in contrasting manner. They happen to meet at one point where a tragedy strikes in their lives.

Engeyum Eppothum Review

Coming to the story, two buses coming on opposite direction crash at each other on the National Highway in Villupuram. Tragic scenes follow. Meanwhile, a flashback unfolds and the life of a  lover couple is narrated.

Amudha (Ananya), an engineering passout comes to Chennai from a village in Tiruchy for an interview. Situation leads her to take the help of a stranger Goutham (Sarva) to locate the company. Initially she is reluctant, but slowly gets acquanited and starts admiring him.

Meanwhile, there is another romance in the form of Kadhiresan (Jai) and  Manimegalai (Anjali). A soft-spoken good-hearted Kadhiresan falls for a young nurse Manimegalai, who is out-spoken and lives life her own way.

Engeyum Eppothum Review

After completing the interview, Amudha returns to Tiruchy but her thoughts revolve around Goutham. Goutham too wants to see her and express his love.  Amudha comes to Chennai in search of her lover. At the same time, Goutham decides to go to Tiruchy to hold the hands of Amudha.

Meanwhile, Kadhiresan and Manimekalai get along well and after a series of interesting events in their romance, they decide to go to a village near Tiruchy to meet Kadhiresan's parents. Gautam, Kadhiresan and Manimekalai boards a bus to Tiruchy, while Amudha takes a bus from Tiruchy to Chennai. Near Villupuram, the buses collide. What happens then forms the climax.

Sarva as a suave city youth fits the bill well. His cool and casual expressions are adequate for the role. Ananya as an innocent bubbly rustic girl who comes to city is impressive. Anjali as a out-spoken and straightforward girl in love with Jai is tailor-made for the character.

Engeyum Eppothum Review

Watch out for Jai. He as an innocent youth is the scene-stealer. He does his best in the role. The actor manages to leave an impression with his performance.
All the characters are well-written and neatly conceived by the director. They resemble close to real-life. The narration keeps one engaged all through. The contrasting love, loss, gain and sorrow are beautifully portrayed.

R Velraj's cinematography and catchy background score of debutant Sathya add solidity to the proceedings. All said, 'Engeyum Eppothum' is a whiff of fresh air in Tamil cinema. Saravanan has certainly made his mentor A.R Murugadoss, who has produced this film along with Fox Star Studios,  proud.

It’s A R Murugadoss's maiden production venture. Fox Star Studios ventures to co-produce the same. With the likes of Jai, Anjali, sharwanand and Ananya in the cast, the movie has garnered a lot of attention. The movie is publicised as the journey of life. Check out what the film is all about. Story

It is about two lover couples, their desire to get united in life. But what happens if a tragic incident plays spoilsport in their lives. A road accident involving two buses at a National Highway in Villupuram occurs. Meanwhile, a flashback unfolds and the romance between Goutham (Sharwanand) and Amudha (Ananya) and  Kadhiresan (Jai) and  Manimegalai (Anjali) is narrated.

A soft-spoken good-hearted Kadhiresan falls for a young nurse Manimegalai, who is opposite to his nature. She is out-spoken and practical in life. Amudha gets attracted to Goutham, who helps her in Chennai when is stranded in a bus stand unable to know where to go when she lands from Tiruchy for an interview.

Kadhiresan and Manimekalai take a bus to go to go to their hometown, while Goutham also boards the same to see Amudha and open his heart.

At the same time, Amudha takes the bus in the opposite to come and meet Goutham. What the buses collide is what the film is all about. 

Performance

It is a tailor-made role for Sharwanand. The suave and stylish looks come handy for his character. Equally impressive as a chirpy innocent girl is Ananya. She continues from where she left in Nadodigal. Anjali as an out-spoken girl, who takes every step in her life with caution is equally impressive. She seems to be enjoying the good run in the industry, doing varied roles so early in her career. The real scene-stealer is Jai. As innocent young man in love with Anjali, he is impressive. He brings out the innocence in his character very well.

There are a host of new faces in the film who bring freshness to the script.

 

Technicalities

If debutant filmmaker Saravanan is the captain of the ship, he has been ably supported by cinematographer velraj. He captures the contrasting lives in Chennai and rural areas well. The mishap scenes and thereafter are well shot by him. Equally supportive is Sathya with his musical score. Not just the songs, but also the background score adds pep to the whole proceedings. Kishore's editing is crisp and it makes the whole fare racy and riveting.

Analysis

All the characters are well-written. The narration keeps one engaged all through. One gets a feeling of travelling in the bus as the film progresses. The film is a mix of feel-good moments and at the same time emotional moments. Three cheers to Saravanan for making a crisp talked that is racy and riveting and at the same time carrying a strong message.

Gambler Movie Review – Stylish 100% Paisa Vasool Entertainer

The Tamil film Mankatha has been dubbed into Telugu as Gambler and the movie is Ajith’s 50th film. Trisha and Lakshmi Rai play the female leads in this movie directed by Venkat Prabhu.Mankatha has had a blockbuster run in Tamil so let us see how it fares.


What its about : The movie revolves around the cricket betting Mafia and the humongous amounts of money that are involved in it.Vinayak (Ajith) is a suspended playboy cop. He is romantically involved with Sanjana (Trisha) and so comes into contact with Sanjana’s father Reddy (Jayaprakash), who controls all the betting and gambling activities of Dharavi in Mumbai. Vinayak easily earns the trust of Reddy.
Sumanth (Vaibhav) is a trusted aide of Reddy and knows the ins and outs of his illegal businesses.When Sumanth comes to know that 500 Crores of betting money is being brought to Reddy’s den for the IPL final, he becomes greedy and hatches a plan to steal the money with his buddies Mahath (Mahath) – A bar owner, Ganesh (Ashwin) – A Police Inspector and Prem (Premgi Amaren) – A brilliant IT expert.
Vinayak learns about the plan and forcibly makes his way into the gang. He provides his intelligence inputs and expertise to the operation and they make a successful heist. The ultra glamorous Sona (Lakshmi Rai) seduces some of the team members for a cut of the money. All hell breaks loose when the five team members start to double cross each other. Into this mess comes in ACP Prithviraj (Arjun) who heads a special task force that is responsible for tracking down and eliminating the betting Mafia.
What follows is a cat and mouse game between all the parties for the huge amount of money.Who will end up with the money in the end? Who is to be trusted and who is the rogue?



What’s Good: There are a lot of things working in favour of this movie. But the biggest contributing factor without a doubt is Ajith. He delivers a career best performance as the stylish and suave playboy cop Vinayak. He towers over the film and arrests your attention with riveting histrionics. The last five minutes before the interval literally sent a chill down my spine. His character Vinayak has shades of grey all over, just like his hair. Ajith has put on some weight but the look suits the character perfectly. He smokes and drinks with gay abandon and it looks like he actually had a lot of fun playing this character.
Trisha is Ok as Sanjana. She doesn’t have much to do except to boss over Ajith’s character and chide him for his drinking and smoking. Her screen time is limited. Laksmi Rai however, is the bomb. Her character Sona looks hot, oozes glamour and is not afraid to show skin. She literally seduces the audience with her riveting performance. Lakshmi Rai is a major asset to the movie.
Arjun justifies his title ‘Action King’. He looks cool as the super cop Prithvi and his clashes with Ajith are a treat to watch.
The first half of the movie is terrific. ‘Gambler’ is a stylish and sophisticated heist drama in the first half and the movie takes liberal inspiration from the Hollywood Blockbusters like ‘The Italian Job’, ‘Armored’ and ‘Fast and the Furious’. The action sequences are well choreographed and look awesome on screen.
Premgi provides a few laughs as the bumbling IT expert Prem. Ashwin, Vaibhav and Mahath do a fabulous job as the conmen. Vaibhav in particular has a nice and meaty role. He is a fine actor and will shine if he chooses such characters. Andrea Jeremiah and Anjali are Ok in their short cameos.
The special effects for the opening titles and end credits are simply superb and are not to be missed. Don’t walk out of the theatre thinking the movie is over.


What’s Bad: A brilliant and sophisticated first half is sadly let down by a predictable and slightly illogical second half. The songs are not too good and appear at the wrong times. They spoil the tempo and flow of the movie. Except for the introduction song picturized over Ajith and Lakshmi Rai, all the other songs don’t even look good on screen.
An illogical climax and slightly predictable twists also let down the movie. There are some gaping holes in the screenplay. If some of the redundant scenes and songs in the movie are chopped off, Gambler will just absolutely rock.


Technical Departments : Yuvan Shankar Raja’s background score and remixing work is absolutely terrific. Special mention must be made of the rocking sound track that accompanies Ajith throughout the movie.
Director Venkat Prabhu needs to be commended for handling Ajith’s stardom and image perfectly. He has done a decent job overall and his sound commercial sense will bring the Producers a lot of money. A slightly better screenplay would have worked wonders.Editing could have been better. Cinematography is top notch and adds to the movie’s stylish feel.


Verdict: Gambler is a 100% paisa vasool entertainer. Ajith is a treat to watch and the movie has something for everyone. If you can ignore some illogical screenplay and some crappy songs, the movie will entertain you fully and completely. The movie will do well in Andhra Pradesh as the B and C centre folks will also enjoy the action sequences and the glamour show of Lakshmi Rai. Go with your friends and have fun this weekend with ‘Gambler’.It is money well spent.

Gambler - Ajith saves the day

Betting money, wily cops, underworld, greedy sidekicks, principal characters without a sense of scruples. Add a dose of booze, a hero who oozes menace and avarice at almost every turn, not to forget a terrific twist at the end, the plot becomes irresistible. Only Telugu nativity is missing. Never mind, if you can make with the handsome Ajith who comes with a smart performance and the slick cinematography that draws from Vishal Bharadwaj's vision, you will certainly find Gambler entertaining.

Gambler, the dubbed version of Mankatha, is purely a male-dominated story in which money and murder are the focal points. All the characters, including the hero, are suborned to the greed of moolah. In this cat and mouse game, anybody could meet his nemesis next. Everybody lives on the edge, almost and always. So much so, the next one to die could even be Vinayak Mahadev (Ajith), who calls himself 'The Kingmaker.'

Vinayak is a suspended cop who befriends Sanjana (Trisha), the daughter of Sambasiva Reddy (Jayaprakash). Reddy makes money through shady deals and has got big plans to loot Rs. 500 cr. of betting money which is to be pooled at a theatre owned by him, so that he can share the booty with a gang of crooks in the mafia.

If there is big fortune around, can connivery and crime be far behind? As expected, some players have their firm sight on the moolah. Least does Reddy realise that it is, however, Sumanth (Vaibhav), who he has nurtured for years, who is conniving to stab from the back and run away with the money with his friends Mahanth, Ganesh (Ashwin) and Prem (Premji Amaran).

The curtain for race and chase game begins when Vinayak enters the fray with his own evil designs. Before it is interval bang, the gang of five (Sumanth, Mahanth, Ganesh and Prem have been joined by Vinayak, who offers them the benefit of working as a team) successfully pillages the haul. In the game that follows, Vinayak occupies the centre stage while rest of them taper off as insignificant stuff, but not before threatening to undermine the Project Money of the black sheep, Vinayak.

The second half is an all-out Ajith bonanza. His character mutates from a cigar-smoking evil planner to a ruthless and psychic robber after the money, displaying devil-may-care attitude and even meanness. It is not rare for a Tamil hero to play a character with negative shades, but Ajith goes a step ahead by spouting baneful lines.

Yet the film is also Venkat Prabhu's to a good extent. His taking is slick, though the screenplay could have been better. Cinematography (Sakthi Saravanan) is top notch and action is nifty.

As for the performances, Ajith tops the chart with his pefectionism while his four chohorts fit the bill. Vaibhav looks good as a raw youth and the director has done well by fleshing out his role in the first half-an-hour by making him romance his wife. Trisha and Lakshmi Rai have only peripheral roles to play in this male-oriented film.

Yuvan Shankar Raja doesn't come up with hummable scores, but the background music is A-1.

All in all, Gambler is watchable for Ajith, visuals and action sequences.

அஜித் குமார் - தமிழ் சினிமாவில் என்றும் அதிகமாக விமர்சிக்கப்படும் நடிகர். நிறைய தோல்விகளை மட்டும் சந்தித்தவர். வெற்றி என்பது இவரது வாழ்க்கையில் அரிதான ஒன்று. வசன உச்சரிப்பு சரியாக வராது. நடனம் ஆட தெரியாது. அழ தெரியாது. உடலை கட்டுகோப்பாக வைத்திருக்க தெரியாது. இன்னும் நிறைய தெரியாது என்று பெரும்பான்மையான மக்களால் விமர்சிக்கபடுபவர். திமிரானவர், மற்றவர்களை மதிக்காதவர், விழாக்களில் கலந்து கொள்ள மாட்டார் என்று இவரை பற்றிய விமர்சனங்கள் எக்கச்சக்கம்.



பொதுவாக சொல்வதென்றால், ரசிகர்களுக்கு என்று எதையும் செய்யாதவர். அரசியல் கட்சிகளை ஆதரித்து, ரசிகர்களுக்கு கவுன்சிலர் பதவி வாங்கி தர வேண்டாம். குறைந்த பட்சம் வரிசையாக வெற்றி படங்களையாவது ரசிகர்களுக்கு தரலாம். ஆனால் அதுவும் இவரால் முடியவில்லை. ரசிகர் மன்றங்களை சமீபத்தில் கலைத்தார். ரசிகர்கள் என்னுடைய புகைப்படத்தை குடும்ப விழாக்களில் பயன்படுத்துவதை தவிர்க்க வேண்டும் என்று கூறினார். ரசிகர்கள் என்னை ஆராதிப்பதை விட அவர்களுடைய குடும்பத்தில் கவனத்தை செலுத்த வேண்டும் என்று கூறினார்.



சினிமாவில் சம்பளம் வாங்கும் தொழிலாளியாக வேலை செய்து வருகிறார். நிச்சயம் அவர் தன்னுடைய ரசிகர்களை தன்னுடைய சுய தேவைக்காக பயன்படுத்த போவதில்லை. வெளியிலிருந்து பார்த்தால், அஜித் என்னுடைய தலைவன் என்று சொல்லிகொள்ளும் அளவுக்கு அஜித் எதுவும் சாதித்ததாய் தெரியவில்லை. ஆனால் இப்போதைய நிலைமை வேறு மாதிரி இருக்கிறது. இரண்டு தோல்விகளுக்கு பிறகு வந்திருக்கிற மங்காத்தாவிற்கு கிடைத்திருக்கும் Opening ஆச்சரிய படவைக்கிறது.



மிகபெரிய opening. இத்தனைக்கும் promotion வேலைகள் எதுவும் பெரிதாய் நடக்கவில்லை. எப்படி இவ்வளவு பெரிய opening? எப்படி இது சாத்தியமானது? அஜித்திடம் ஏதாவது மந்திர கோல் இருக்கிறதா? நான் இங்கு இதற்கு விடை காண முயற்சி செய்ய போகிறேன்..

அஜித் தன்னுடைய சினிமா வாழ்க்கையின் ஒவ்வொரு நிமிடங்களையும் போரட்டத்துடனையே சந்தித்தார். எந்த ஒரு பின்னணியும் இல்லாமல், தனது கனவு லட்சியமான Raceக்காக, பணம் செய்வதற்காக சினிமாவில் காலடி எடுத்து வைத்தார். எதுவும் சரியாக அமைய வில்லை. அழகான சிவப்பான இளைஞனாக மட்டுமே அறியப்பட்டார். அமராவதி படத்திற்கு பிறகு ஒன்றரை வருடங்கள் விபத்தினால் படுத்த படுக்கை ஆனார். சினிமாவில் நடித்து பணம் சம்பாதிக்கும் சாதுர்யம் தெரியவில்லை. அமராவதியில் நடித்த போது கிடைத்த பணத்தை வைத்து கொண்டு motor race-ல் கலந்து கொண்டு விபத்தில் சிக்கினார். தான் கொண்ட இலட்சியத்திற்காக உயிரை விட துணிந்தார். இளமையின் வேகம் பணத்தின் அருமையை அறியவில்லை.

இவ்வளவு பெரிய விபத்திற்கு பிறகு, சினிமாவில் நடிப்பது மட்டுமே நடைமுறைக்கு உதவும் என்ற கசப்பான உண்மையில் மனம் தத்தளித்தது. கிடைத்த படத்தில் எல்லாம் நடித்தார். மனம் முழுவதும் வேறு லட்சியம், உடல் நடிப்பதற்கு முயற்சி செய்தது. நிறைய தோல்விகளை சந்தித்தார். முதல் மற்றும் முழுமையான வெற்றி, ஆசை என்கிற படத்தில் வந்தது. Chocolate Boy ஆக அறிமுகமானார். பெண் ரசிகர்கள் நிறைய கிடைத்தனர். பிறகு காதல் கோட்டை. பெண் ரசிகர்களின் நெஞ்சில் கனவு நாயகனாய் நுழைந்தார்.

காதல் மன்னன் - ஆண் ரசிகர்களையும் தன்னை உற்று பார்க்க வாய்த்த படம். வெற்றி ஆரம்பம் ஆனது, வாலி, அஜித் ஒரு சிறந்த நடிகன் என்பதை தமிழ் சினிமாவிற்கு உணர்த்தியது, மறுக்க முடியாத உண்மை. வசனம் தேவை இல்லை. என் கண்களின் பார்வை போதும், என் மனதின் கொடுரத்தை சொல்ல என்று மற்ற நடிகர்களுக்கு பாடம் எடுத்தார். இந்த இடத்தில நான் அஜித் ரசிகனானேன். இப்படி பட்ட நடிப்பை நான் தொடர்ந்து அஜித்திடம் எதிர் பார்க்கிறேன். ஆனால் பத்தில் ஒன்று தான் தேறுகிறது.



இடைப்பட்ட காலத்தில் அவர் கொடுத்த பேட்டிகள் அதிகப்படியான தன்னம்பிக்கையுடன் காணப்பட்டது. நான் சூப்பர் ஸ்டார் ஆவேன். நான் தான் No.1 என்று பேசிய பேச்சுக்கள் திமிராக பேசப்பட்டதாக அறியப்பட்டது. எனக்கு அப்படி தெரியவில்லை. கொஞ்சம் உணர்ச்சி வசப்பட்டு பேசி இருந்தாலும். அவருடைய தன்னம்பிக்கையை நினைத்து ஆச்சரிய பட்டேன். தான் கொண்ட இலட்சியத்திற்காக மரணத்தை தொட்டவர், தனது அடுத்த ஆட்டத்தை சினிமாவில் ஆரம்பித்து விட்டதாக தோன்றியது.. மனதுக்குள் Welldone சொல்லிகொண்டேன் . ஆனால் மீடியா இதை தவறாக சித்தரித்து அஜித்தை மன உளைச்சலுக்கு உள்ளாக்கியது. பேட்டி கொடுப்பதை தவிர்க்க ஆரம்பித்தார். மௌனத்தை ஆயுதமாய் பயன்படுத்த நினைத்தார். தன்னை சுற்றி சுவரை எழுப்பினார். நிறைய பெண் ரசிகர்கள் அடுத்த ஆணழகனை தேடி சென்றார்கள். ஆண் ரசிகர்கள் சுவற்றின் ஓரத்திலேயே காத்திருக்க ஆரம்பித்தார்கள்.



அஜித்தின் வெறுப்பு விலகி இருக்க சொன்னது. மீடியாக்களின் தவறான பரப்புரைகளால், ரசிகர்கள் அஜித்தை தனிப்பட்ட முறையில் நேசிக்க ஆரம்பித்தனர். நானும் நேசித்தேன். அஜித்திடம் என்னை கண்டேன். அஜித்திடம் இருந்து பாடங்கள் கற்று கொண்டேன். உண்மைய உரக்க சொல் என்று அஜித் தான் எனக்கு கற்று கொடுத்தார். சொல்லி கொண்டே இருக்கிறேன். அஜித் போல அடி வாங்கி கொண்டே இருக்கிறேன். வலிகளை தாங்க அவருடைய மௌனத்தை பின்பற்றுகிறேன். சில மௌனங்கள் வெடிக்கும் போது மிகபெரிய உண்மையை கக்கும். சமீபத்தில் முன்னாள் முதலமைச்சரின் பாராட்டு விழாவிற்கு நிறைய ஹீரோக்கள் கட்டாயத்தின் பேரில் கலந்து கொண்டனர். அஜித்தும் கலந்து கொண்டார்.. ஆனால் வெடித்தார், முதல்வரின் முன்னாலேயே கட்டாய படுத்த படுகிறோம் என்று கூறினார். அனுபவமிக்க, செல்வாக்கு மிக்க ரஜினி கமலால் செய்ய முடியாததை அஜித் செய்து காட்டினார். யாரால் இப்படி பேச முடியும். இதுதான் ஹீரோக்கு அழகு, அஜித் உண்மையான ஹீரோ. மற்றவர்கள் சினிமாவில் மட்டும் ஹீரோவாக இருக்க முயற்சி செய்தனர். அஜித் சாமானியனாக குரல் எழுப்பி ரசிகர்கள் மத்தியில் ஹீரோவாக கருதப்பட்டார்.

அஜித் உண்மையில் எனக்கு ஹீரோவாக தெரிகிறார். எனவே தான் அவர் சினிமாவில் வருவதை மட்டுமே விரும்புகிறேன். நடிப்பு எல்லாம் இரண்டாம் பட்சம் தான். அவரால் சில ரோல்களை நன்றாக பண்ண முடியும். நல்ல இயக்குனரிடம் அவர் சிக்கும் போது அவரது புதிய திறமைகள் கண்டிப்பாக வெளி வரும். எனக்கு பிடித்த 13 படங்களில் 90% படங்களில் அவரது திறமை சிறப்பாக வெளிபட்டிருக்கிறது. அவர் உண்மையான ஹீரோ என்பதால் ரசிகர்கள் அவரை தனிப்பட்ட முறையிலேயே அணுகுகிறார்கள். அஜித் ரசிகர்களிடம் பேசி பாருங்கள் இந்த உண்மை புரியும். அஜித்தின் படங்கள் ரசிகர்களால் ஓட்டபடுவதில்லை, படம் சரியில்லை என்று தெரிந்தால் விலகி விடுவார்கள். அடுத்த படத்தை உற்சாகமாக எதிர் நோக்கியிருப்பர்கள்.

அஜித் தன் ரசிகர் மன்றத்தை கலைத்தது கண்டிப்பாக நல்ல முயற்சி. ரசிகர் மன்றத்தையும் தாண்டி மிகப்பெரிய ரசிகர் வட்டம் உள்ளது. கண்ணுக்கு புலப்படாத ஒரு மன்றத்தினால் இவர்கள் இணைக்கப்பட்டு உள்ளார்கள். எல்லா ரசிகர்களும் தங்களுக்குள் விலகி இருக்கிறார்கள். தலைவனும் விலகி இருக்கிறான். ஆனாலும் இவர்கள் ஒரே மாதிரி சிந்திகிறார்கள். இவர்களிடம் எந்த எதிர் பார்ப்பும் இல்லை. நல்ல படத்தை கூட இவர்கள் எதிர் பார்க்கவில்லை. இப்படி பட்ட ரசிகர்கள் கிடைக்க அஜித் தவம் செய்திருக்க வேண்டும். எந்த எதிர்பார்ப்பும் இல்லாத இந்த ரசிகன் ஹீரோ உறவு, இந்த உலகிற்கு ஒரு சிறந்த எடுத்துகாட்டு.



நான் முன்பு சொன்னது போல, அஜித் ஒரு சிறந்த தொழிலாளி. எந்த எதிர் பார்ப்பும் இல்லாமல் தனது வேலையை செய்கிறார். நல்ல குடும்பத்தோடு வாழ்கிறார். தன் ரசிகர்களையும் குடும்பத்தை கவனிக்க சொல்கிறார். எனக்கு கட்அவுட் வைப்பதை விட உன்னுடைய வீட்டுக்கு உழைப்பதையே நான் விரும்புகிறேன் என்று கூறினார். தான் படிக்காத கல்வியை, தன் ரசிகர்களை படிக்க சொல்கிறார். தனது ரசிகர்களை தேவையில்லாத பாதைகளுக்கு வழிகாட்ட அவர் விரும்பவில்லை. எனது சினிமாவை விட உனது வாழ்க்கையே சிறந்தது என்று ரசிகனுக்கு உணர்த்துகிறார். அரசியல் செய்ய ஆயிரம் பேர் உள்ளனர். குழுக்கள் குழுக்களாக நிறைய நடிகர்கள் தன்னுடைய ரசிகர்களை ஒருங்கிணைக்க, அஜித் என்னை ஆச்சரிய படுத்துகிறார்.



அஜித் சினிமாவையும் தாண்டி ஒரு நல்ல மனிதனாக என்னுள் அறியபடுகிறார். அவர் என்னை ஆச்சரிய படுத்துகிறார். எனக்குள் உத்வேகத்தை அளிக்கிறார். நான் அஜித் ரசிகனாக இருக்க பெருமை படுகிறேன். நான் அஜித்தை கடவுள் அளவுக்கு சித்தரிக்க முயற்சி செய்ய வில்லை. Karthi's Paiya in Hindi with Suriya?

Apart from having a strong fan base in South India, Suriya also won critical acclaim when he marked his entry into Bollywood with the Ram Gopal Verma's trilingual film 'Raktha Charitha.' The film was liked by all those who were in for watching serious films as well as with Suriya's portrayal of Suryanarayan Reddy.

Now there is a buzz in the Tamil film industry as well as some sections of the Bollywood that Suriya is getting ready for his next film in Hindi. Suriya might get to star in brother Karthi's 'Paiyaa' remake in Hindi. 'Paiyaa' was a musical hit in Tamil with Karthi and Tamannah playing the leads under Linguswamy's direction.

Though there has been no confirmation on this front there is an undercurrent in the industry regarding Suriya readying for his second film in Bollywood; and with his opening film that made people sit up and take notice, we hope the sailing will be smooth for Suriya Sivakumar in his second venture too.

His next with AR Murugadoss and Harris Jayaraj, '7 Am Arivu' is all set to hit theatres soon. The actor is, at the moment, shooting for KV Anand's 'Maatran.' Suriya is working harder with each upcoming film. If '7 Am Arivu' will see the lead actor donning three different makeovers, KV Anand's 'Maatran' might portray him in multiple avatars as well.

Thala Ajith's 'Mankatha' has tasted success in USA as well, as all the shows were sold out on the very first day! It is also expected to fair well this weekend. In fact, Big Cinemas responded immediately by adding multiple shows due to high customer demand and the management from Big Cinemas expressed that they have never seen a response such as this since Superstar's 'Endhiran'!
 
The response from smaller centers such as Seattle, Phoenix, Charlotte, and Columbus had record breaking attendance during weekdays.

Mammootty car accident in Kerala

Mammootty suffered a big scare when a bus crashed into his car along the route from Aroor to Ernakulam. Neither the actor nor the occupants of the car suffered any injury but the car sustained a lot of damage. The police arrived on the scene and wanted to arrest the bus driver for reckless driving.

The driver appealed to Mammootty and apologized profusely. Mammootty agreed to let him go and declined to file a case as it was an accident and nobody was hurt. The Malayalam superstar was returning from a shoot for the film, Venicile Vyapar

Actress Mamta Mohandas Marriage date Fixed

Mamta Mohandas, the hottest babe from Mollywood will be getting engaged in just a couple of months. This has been confirmed by a family member of the actress. Mamta Mohandas who graced Malayalam films has built a cozy place for herself in the hearts of the audience who watch her films.

Mamta will be getting engaged to a longtime family friend who is based in Bahrain. However details on the name of the groom as well as his whereabouts are strictly under wraps and the family will be divulging more details only post the actress' engagement, reveal sources in the know.

The wedding will most probably be fixed in the first half of 2012. There were reports earlier doing the rounds that Mamta's parents were on the look for Mr. Perfect for their daughter, and now their search seems to have ended. Mankatha a Super Hit in UAE Malaysia and Singapore

Though the film Mankatha which has Ajith, Arjun, Trisha Krishnan, Vaibhav Reddy, Lakshmi Rai, Andrea Jeremiah, Premji Amaren, Anjali in the cast is being released worldwide tomorrow ( 31st August 2011), a special screening of this film was made today evening in one of the theatres belonging to Golden Screen Cinema. This is the leading film exhibitor in Malaysia.


After the screening, there was a standing ovation for this film. The audience who saw this film were very excited. Few of the people who attended this screening have mentioned that they have not seen such an Ajith film with class. It seems that the first half is rib tickling while the other half is filled with racy action sequences which has never been seen in Ajith films earlier. The direction of the film is 2 hours 40 minutes.

This film is listed under one of the hot movie checks in Malaysia. This film is listed 2nd while the first being Final Destination 5.

Well well well, Thala Ajith's 50th Film Mankatha is releasing after many doubts of the release date and much talks about the movie.

The film had been in news ever since the film was supposed to go on floors. Directed by Venkat Prabhu, produced by Dayanidhi Azhagri's Cloud Nine Movies and distributed by Sun Pictures.

Mankatha Review - Story/ Plot
Here we give you the insight of the story. Ajith as plays the role of Vinayak Mahadev, a police officer, who gets suspended. Vinayak and Prithviraj (played by Arjun) are friends who also is a police official.

Vinayak however stars working against the police department and forms his own gang. He poses threat to the police officers and Prthviraj ends up chasing Vinayak.

Vinayak along with Sumanth and Prem (played by Vaibhav and Premji respectively) forms a team and they stars stealing money.

As time passes by the gang of Vinayak gets caught one by one by Prithviraj. Although he wishes to catch Vinayak and plots ways he wouldn't be able to catch him.

We got introduced to Sanjana (played by Trisha), who just appears in few scene in the movie as the love interest of Vinakyak, who is the daughter of the Villain, a Casino owner. Sanjana is used as bait to win over the casino owner and get the money.

Vinayak who wins over lot of money and escapes with it. But there is a twist in the plot. To watch out for what the twist is all about one need to go the theater to catch Thala Ajith in action.

Overall – Mankatha film will appeal to all Thala fans for sure and will definitely be a hit among the masses. Thala Ajith in an all new 'Salt & Pepper' avatar is set to rock the screen and is doing so. The thala fans are going crazy to catch the Ultimate star in a stylish negative role, who uses a lot of bad words and steals money. Ajith entertains his fans unlike his previous duds.

Seems like Venkat Prabhu as a fan of Ajith has understood the pulse of the audience and fans of Ajith that he has given such an entertainer, where Ajith rules the game of action.

Verdict – Thala Ajith, not just steals the money in the movie but – steals the show completely!

The headline says it all. In 'Mankatha', Ajith pulls it off with his impeccable style and excellent performance, which is aptly supported by a racy script and brilliant execution by director Venkat Prabhu and his team.

If cricket was the USP of 'Chennai 28', the director's first film, 'Mankatha' is also based on the sport but with a difference. It is all about betting, money and the men behind it.

Ajith has appropriately chosen to do 'Mankatha' as his 50th film. It is a movie that has everything his fans would want. He shakes his legs vigorously, evokes laughter, does pulsating stunt sequences and utters catchy one-liners (with some of them going mute).

The first-half belongs to Venkat Prabhu where he shows sparks of 'Saroja' and 'Goa', while the latter part is totally dominated by Ajith. As a merciless baddie behind money, Ajith oozes venom in his eyes. His body language and dialogue delivery compliments it very much. Though the movie has over a dozen characters, it's Ajith all the way. With his remarkable screen presence, he is at his coolest best.

Coming to the story, 'Mankatha' revolves around a suspended cop Vinayak Mahadevan (Ajith) in Maharashtra police. He leads a happy life with his lover Sanjana (Trisha), daughter of an influential local goon Arumuga Chettiyar (Jayaprakash).

Vinayak is a man who dares to do anything for money. But a fun-loving person, he lives his life in his own way.

A suicide by a police officer investigating the betting mafia involved in Indian Premier League (IPL) hogs headlines. Assistant Commissioner of Police Prithvi (Arjun) takes charge to end betting scandal in the sport.

Meanwhile, Arumuga Chettiyar comes to know that a sum of Rs 500 crore betting money for the finals of the IPL is coming to Mumbai. He uses his nexus with underworld in Mumbai and tries to route it through his recreation centre.

Sumanth (Vaibhav) is Arumuga Chettiyar's protege. He hatches a conspiracy to take away the money in the company of a police officer Ganesh (Ashwin). They are joined by Mahanth (Mahanth), who runs a bar in Mumbai and Prem (Premgi Amaran), a fun-loving IIT pass out.

Coming to know of their plans, Vinayak steps in. He promises to help the team members and divide the booty between them. They even succeed in taking away the money and decide to wait for an appropriate time to share the fortune.

In the meantime, a shocked Arumuga Chettiyar begins his hunt for the treasure and every move of him is closely followed by Prithvi. All hell breaks loose from here.

Cheers to Ajith. The man after a long gap gets a role where he can perform with variety (Watch out for the scene where he demands Arjun to finish off Vaibhav). He is at his best and his salt and pepper look is catchy and attractive.

As a suave cop, a dreaded don or a adorable lover, he leaves his charm on screen. His uttering of one-liners to Arjun evokes applause. His imitating Premgi in few scenes brings the roof down in laughter.

Arjun lives up to his Action King tag. He adds variety on screen and is cool and consummate as a police officer.

Trisha appears in a few scenes besides a song and disappears. Andrea as Arjun's wife, Lakahmi Rai as call girl and Anjali in the role of Vaibhav's wife play blink-and-miss roles. Jayaprakash gets to play a decent part in the film. At places he reminds one of Kamal Haasan's role in 'Nayakan'. Vaibhav gets a meaty character and he utilises the opportunity.

Both Ganesh and Mahanth are tailor-made for the roles, while Premgi is at his best in the film. He takes off from where he left in 'Goa'. At ease in coming out with comical one-liners, his admiration for Ajith is visible on screen.

Watch out for good cinematography in such an action-packed film. Sakthi Saravanan has given a fresh colour to it. It's Yuvan Shankar Raja's mass tunes that elevates the mood. Accompanied by Karthik Raja, Bhavadharini and Premgi Amaran, he has shown difference in background score too (especially in the godown-fight scene in the second half)..

While editing by Praveen K L and N B Srikanth makes the film racy (doubly so in the second half), Vasuki Baskar's costumes fit well the 'Thala' and others. Stunts (courtesy Selva) are another highlight of 'Mankatha'

Give due credit to Venkat Prabhu, the director who seems to have given a film that sits well on Ajith. He understood Ajith's strength and played it well. Who said he can only direct laughathons? With 'Mankatha', he has graduated to go higher places.

On the whole, it's job well done by Venkat Prabhu, producer Dhayanidhi Alagiri and other members of the team. If at all there is a minus, it is the lengthy first half.
